Fueling long-term academic success, one book at a time.

Children's LIteracy Center

We’re creating positive new chapters for hundreds of kids.

The Children’s Literacy Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, began as a Junior League project in 1991. It has since evolved into a state-wide effort that receives support from a broad base of individual donors, businesses, corporations, schools, and foundations.

Beginning with one location and 62 children in 1993, there are presently 12 sites statewide serving more than 800 students annually. BuildStrong Education sponsors two of these sites located at Z Place in Green Valley Ranch and Banning Lewis Ranch in Colorado Springs. Together these sites nearly 100 students each year.

Early literacy is critical to long-term academic success. Children need to learn to reach by 3rd grade so that they can read to learn for a lifetime. We are a proud partner of CLC and both locations are always looking for volunteers to tutor our struggling readers. Follow the link below to learn more about the program and volunteer opportunities.
